You say it's your birthday...

About seven years ago, I had the most perfect pair of Barbie-pink colored heels. The heel was maybe 2.5" tall, and they were bright, stop people in their tracks kind of shoes. Well, they were, until the heels got totally jacked up and I had to retire them.

I'm usually pretty specific about what I'm looking for when I look for shoes, and ever since those lovely loud shoes from my past died, I have been on the hunt for a replacement pair. (Well, quietly on the hunt anyhow. No one really needs fluorescent pink heels)

These showed up, in my size-ish on eBay and I decided to take a chance, you know, being my birthday month and all. These are supposedly my official birthday shoes, and I have been wearing them nearly every day since they arrived. It's love!

And yes, they are really that bright in person!

Christian Louboutin Patent Simple Pump 100 in Fluo Pink Chic

I typically take my true US size in Simple Pumps, but these are a half size up and work perfectly!

  3. I need your shoe advice guru. I am a dead set Euro 38 & looking at a pair of Pigalle's second hand. Do these run true to size? I can't remember? Do the Decolletes?

  5. thank you ladies!
gabfran - it really depends on the heel height of the pigalles and the width of your foot. if they are 100mm or lower, i would say get your size or 1/2 size up if your feet are wider. if they are 120s, i would recommend a 37.5. the decolletes run 1/2 to full size small, so i would say a 38.5-39 would be best for you. hth!

  6. Great advice Erin - thank you! With wide feet & widely spaced toes (the curse of the yoga teacher) I have to go up to a 39 in Guccis so good to know that I have that lee-way with LBs too.

The pink decolletes are possibly your best shoes yet. But then, I say that about every pair of shoes that you blog about :)

  7. @gabran - these are actually simple pumps, not decolletes. the simple pumps typically run true-to-size to half size up, depending on the season.

there's a really great sizing guide on tPF here:

i use it any time i'm unsure about what size would work for me :)

  8. Birthday shoes rock. I love it that you can buy any pair of shoes in that month, just because they catch your eye and you don't have to justify them. When people comment on them you can say "Oh thanks, they are my birthday shoes. I love them, too." Shoes are a happy reminder of birthdays past. The question is - how many pairs of red shoes is too many? Or even if that is a legitimate question. I'll be buying them till I die, I think. :)

  9. @redonpurpose - never too many shoes! i probably have too many reds, but i just have found since i've become familiar with this brand, i know what does and does not work for my feet. maybe i need to find a new (cheaper) brand to become familiar with!
